Sharpies markers were a big hit at our house ~ some of the women were jealous ~ they wanted them, too. Really bright flashlights (big or tiny) did well. One year I went to a coin shop and bought circulated buffalo nickels, Indian head pennies, and old post cards. They were under $5 (collector’s value very little), but everyone enjoyed them and began to talk about old coins they’ve found before or gotten in change, funny old gadgets they’ve seen, and antiques in general. It worked in our family ~ they love interesting old things, but aren’t avid collectors.

If DH is a spectacled specimine (or just needs reading glasses) a glasses case could be a nice addition.

Mini Nerf guns, the guys in my family always get them in their stockings and it makes for an entertaining Christmas gathering
