Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Day
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Day is celebrated each year on June 9th!! This is Mr. SMSL’s favorite pie of all time, so I knew that I had to bake him a pie to celebrate this food holiday. Making homemade pies is something that I was taught to do at a young age so of course I made him one from scratch, well almost scratch! I cheated this time around and used frozen rhubarb and frozen strawberries as well as store bought crust. But the end result was just as yummy which is all that really matters.
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
- Frozen Rhubarb I used a whole package 16 ounces
- Frozen or Fresh Strawberries I used 16 ounces of frozen
- 2 Pie Crusts
- 3 Tablespoons Butter
- 2 Tablespoons Flour
- 2 Cups Sugar
- Place strawberries and rhubarbs into a saucepan with your 2 cups of sugar. Boil until tender, then pour into your pie pan. Place your butter and flour into the mixture and give it a quick stir. Then cover the top with a pie crust. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or until golden brown.
- Let cool and serve. It is delicious with vanilla ice cream on top!
I obviously won’t win a blue ribbon for my crimping skills, but the finished project was delicious!! Mr. SMSL gave it his seal of approval and that is all that matters.
