Sweet N Sour Soup Recipe

Sweet N Sour Soup Recipe

Sweet N Sour Soup Recipe is the perfect meal to end January because it is known as Soup month. During the winter months we seem to eat a lot of soup, but love variety and cooking so made our own Sweet N Sour Soup. It’s not that we don’t love Chinese Food, but we don’t like the price tag that comes with dining out. So when the mood struck for Chinese this month, Mr. SMSL decided to try his hand at making Sweet N Sour Soup. I would have to say that he hit the nail on the head when he made this delicious soup. It was a healthier version than what we would have had in the restaurant, and I’m going to try to can some the next time we make it.

Sweet N Sour Soup Recipe

The ingredients we used were:

Canned Chicken with broth (This summer we raised the chickens, butchered them, and then canned some of the meat. As well as froze some of the meat. It is very moist, delicious and much cheaper than what we used to get at the store. We used about 2 cups of broth with chicken pieces cut very finely.

Onion 1 medium sized onion diced

Celery 1 stalk of celery cut into bite sized pieces

Carrots cut into bite sized pieces

Spaghetti Noodles (you can use any you have on hand, but we broke the noodles into 4 equal pieces.)

1/2 cup Soy Sauce

1/2 cup Vinegar

Salt/Pepper

If you wanted to make it hot like we did you could crush up some red pepper chili flakes to give it an added kick. But it would of course be optional. Cook on the stop top about 30 minutes on medium heat until the vegetables are fork tender. Serve with wontons, egg rolls, or by itself, either way you go this Sweet N Sour Soup is hearty and delicious.
