Tips for your Guest Room Remodel

Life changes and here at the Life with Heidi house we are embracing those changes. While they aren’t all easy ones we are doing the best we can. One of the biggest changes is that we are an Empty Nest house and while that brings on lots of changes some of them are better than others. But one of the things we have started to do is update the rooms in the house that we use and of course some that we don’t use all that often. One of the rooms we have recently tackled is the guest room that used to store lots of “stuff”. We have purged the stuff by donating items we haven’t used and thrown away items that were no longer needed like old computers that were past their prime as well as odds and ends we saved for who knows what reason. While Liz doesn’t want or need most of our stuff, some keepsakes have their special spots!

Tips for your Guest Room Remodel

With each box we carted out of the house we felt more at peace with the decision to put the past behind us and have a cleaned and organized space for our out of town guests that are coming for our daughter’s wedding. The biggest change that was made was the addition to the guest room was the addition of a new bed, new window treatments and decorating the walls with things that made it feel homey.

The first addition was a Protect-A-Bed queen size mattress and after we built a wood frame and placed the box springs on the bed we unboxed the mattress. I loved getting a bed shipped right to my door and the ease of moving into the guest room was beyond easy. The mattress is an Allergen-Free, Dust Mite & Waterproof 10-Inch Memory Foam Mattress that is only $399.99 making it a budget friendly way to update our guest room.

Tips to help you update your guest room

Why a Protect-A-Bed?

  • The Allergen-Free, Dust Mite and Bed Bug-Proof Memory Foam Mattress keeps your sleeping area clean, allergy-free and bed bug-proof for a healthy night’s rest
  • Mattress is encased with an AllerZip 6-sided waterproof mattress cover with Miracle Membrane barrier to promote a healthy sleep environment by preventing dust mites and other allergens from penetrating the mattress, including mold, mildew, pet dander and pollen
  • Waterproof mattress cover blocks accidents, spills and stains, yet is air permeable to keep you dry and cool
  • Entomology lab tested mattress cover is bed bug bite-proof, entry-proof and escape-proof with patented BugLock Secure Seal three-sided zipper
  • Cooling memory foam bed features 10-inches of 3 unique layers for support, conformity and motion separation, built to disperse weight and provide positive pressure
  • Provides ample back support, without sinking perfect for larger body types
  • Cooling gel-infused layer helps prevent overheating and improve comfort
  • Premium bed top fabrics woven from moisture-wicking Tencel botanical fiber, delivering airflow and moisture control
  • No flip-design means you never have to turn it over
  • For the ultimate bed protection system, pair with a mattress protector (easily removable for regular cleaning) and AllerZip Pillow Covers
  • 5-year manufacturer’s warranty
Which are all great selling points especially for a guest room because no one wants bed bugs, and the not flipping the mattress is the perfect solution for us. We even added new pillows, new sheets and we pulled out a homemade quilt that we bought at a local High school Fundraiser and quickly dubbed the room our Hornet and Disney room. But I will have to admit the Snow Pillow was so cool and inviting that I had to put it on my bed to try it out, and now I have to order a new one for the guest room.
Don’t forget to check with your guests about their family size. Some families bring their Graco Pack and Plays while others would be grateful for you having one on hand. Either way you go you and your guests will enjoy the newer looking room and sleep great on the new foam mattress.
