Unconventional Ways to Use Canning Jars

Frugal living

I partnered with Ball Canning to bring you this post, however, as always opinions are 100% my own.

Unconventional Ways to Use Canning Jars

Well, a lot of people use mason jars in unconventional ways! In fact, you may not even know all the ways you can use mason jars. A lot of people use them for drinking glasses and for canning, but check out these unconventional ways to use canning jars!

As a bug catcher

What? Yes! If you have little ones or even grandkids, let your kids use mason jars to catch bugs. It’s so fun to walk around with a bug catcher jar of your own. Give it a try! You can place a baggie with holes on it, over the jar to help the bugs get air.

Mixing jar

Why use your hard earned money on buying fancy mixer containers for your protein shakes. You can add everything to a mason jar and shake, shake, and shake some more! It mixes up the items perfectly and in some cases your blender ring will actually fit perfidy on the jar.

Travel mugs

When other people want to spend a ton of money on travel jars and mugs, you can just grab a mason jar out of your cabinet. You can buy specialty lids to help you find the right fit for the top.

Ball Herb Growing Jars

Container gardening

If you have a small space to work with, but want to have a garden, consider using mason jars. These jars are perfect for planting small portions of plants. You can even create cute little shelves to help you store those mason jars safely. Just add dirt, plant, and watch everything grow. Ball Jars has a super cool herb growing kit that is less than $9 and comes in a variety of different herbs. I love that I can pick them up at my local Wal-Mart too!

Mini sewing kit

Need to have a sewing kit on hand, but aren’t sure where to safely store everything? You need to put a mini sewing kit together and keep it inside of a mason jar. It’s safe and convenient. This means you can have your mini sewing kit ready for you, whenever you need it.

DIY gift ideas

At the end of the day, saving a little money is always nice. Which is where mason jars come in. You can create a DIY gift and pass it along in the mason jar. We’re talking using the mason jar as a vase – you can paint it to make it pretty. You can create a mini spa kit in a mason jar and deliver it as a gift. You can place goodies in a mason jar and deliver it to your favorite teacher. The options are endless!

So, the next time you’re looking for a way to use all those mason jars you have sitting around, use up some of these ideas. Don’t forget to check out Ways to Use Canning Lids and 7 Uses for Ball Jars before you go!

Have you ever looked at that mason jar on the shelf and thought “what can I do with these?”
