Ways to Save on Family Vacations

We all need a vacation every now and then. However, just because we need one doesn’t mean we have to spend a fortune getting a little R&R. Let’s face it; when you have a family, going on vacation can get expensive and add stress financially when you get home. Here are some ways to save on family vacations so you can enjoy the time!

Ways to Save on Family Vacations

Bring your Own Food

Eating out gets expensive. If you want to save on your vacations, find an all-inclusive resort, or buy your own groceries. Seriously, the less you eat out, the more you will save on your vacation time.

Book Excursions Ahead of Time

When you go on vacation, you don’t want to just sit in the hotel room doing nothing. Your family wants to go out, have fun, and explore the location. Instead of waiting until you get there to do anything, head over to Travelocity, Groupon, or Super Saving Social to find inexpensive excursions ahead of time.

Make a Budget

One thing most families forget to do is make a budget for themselves. Like anything in your life, if you just keep swiping that card, you are going to regret it later on. Set a budget for your trip and stick to it. Remember to budget things like gas, tolls, and other necessities.

Bring Cash Instead of Cards

Sticking to a budget can actually be done better by bringing cash instead of cards. For example, if you have $500 in your budget, just bring it in cash so you don’t go over it.

Divide your Cash Up

Another smart option is to divide your cash up into envelopes for each part of your vacation. Decide on a food amount, a gas amount, and an activity amount. Keep cash you won’t be using in a safe at the hotel. Don’t forget to book your hotels using Groupon and Hotwire.

Going on a family vacation is something that all families need from time to time. Keeping it financially reasonable makes the experience worth it in the end.
