What You Need To Know Before You Rent A Boat For Your Holidays

Travel

Boat renting has grown tremendously over the last few years. Renting a boat offers you outstanding flexibility and freedom when you are planning your holiday. Renting a boat is quite easy; you only need to choose the one that suits you and enjoy boating holidays.

If you are renting a boat for the first time, you may know much about boat renting. This article gives you some important things you should know before you rent a boat.

Skipper on the boat

While many yacht rental companies and agencies offer various rental options, the main idea is always the same. You and your family or friends are renting the boat for a particular period, and you are the only ones who determine the route of the sailboat and how long you will stay in a certain area.

However, these boat agencies or companies won’t rent you a boat if you don’t have a skipper among you. A skipper is someone who has sailing experience and knows the fundamentals of sailboat operation and navigation. The skipper must have a yachting certificate or license before you can rent the boat.

But if no one among you has the necessary skills, worry not, because only a few people sail frequently have the necessary qualifications. So you can still hire a skipper from the agency if there is nobody with sailing experience among you.

The skippers raise the sails and anchor the boat to ensure that everything in the boat is functioning well. The majority of people who have sailing and navigation skills can still decide to hire a skipper because the skipper knows the local area, its waters, and even the weather condition of that particular area. They can also make course suggestions; inform you of any tourist attraction in the area. It’s obvious that you are renting a yacht to get some relaxation; the skipper will do most of the work, leaving you with more time to enjoy the moment with your family and friends.

Choosing a boat

There are many types of boats that you can rent. You can even choose a corporate yacht charter.  In most cases, the yacht company will recommend a boat that will meet your needs. They may recommend a sailboat. That’s because they are not fast and they are better, especially for exploring the sea. You can also choose a catamaran sailboat or monohull sailboat.

Catamarans are more comfortable and ideal for sailors who have no experience in sailing. They are easy to navigate, have ample deck place, and it is easy to get in and out of the water if you would like to swim. If you like speed, you can choose a motorboat. These boats can transport you fast if you want to move from one island to another.

If your budget can allow you, then you can as well rent a luxury sailing yacht, motorsailer, or a small cruise ship. These types of boats tend to have luxury features, such as a spa, gym, WiFi, etc.
