Slushious Roundtable
If you have ever been to LA you know its HOT!! The day we were there it was really hot and we were thrilled to find out we were going to have a Slushious Roundtable. The slushes were the perfect way to cool down as we chatted with the amazingly talented individuals available for us at Dreamworks. We enjoyed slushes inspired of course by the show, Mango-OH, Busta-Lime, and my personal favorite Tropical Twist.
We had a few minutes to sit with Todd Garfield who is the Executive producer of the show as well as Ana Ortiz who plays Lucy who is the voice of Tips Mom. It was her first animation role and it is a gig of a lifetime and it is completely different than her regular acting. They all get to record at the same time in the same room when their schedules allow it but it happens most often. Todd agreed with Anna that the characters are results of the actors, writers and everyone combined together to make them the best characters they can be.
The top priority of the show is to be fun, but for Ana has taken away the ability to trust herself and not second guess herself as Lucy. This is the first thing she has done that her kids will be able to grasp. But the coolest part is that Todd often times moves lines around because someone else would fit the character better than how he originally thought it would be.
After a few minutes with them we switched to chat with Ron Funches and Ryan Crego. Dreamworks allowed them to have a new focus for the show that is different from the Home movie. They both agreed that that everyone loved the episodes because it was silly, crazy and you didn’t know what to expect while making them. Some of the characters are the same in the movie and the show, but there are lots of new voices for the same loved characters. The episodes allow for a wide variety of age groups that will fall in love with Tip and Oh which makes it even more adorable. But it takes a really long time to finish one episode and at any given time there are 20 some episodes going on at a different time at different stages. That’s impressive!!
I loved having the chance to sit down and chat with several of the shows talent and having the chance to pose with the characters to help us celebrate Home: The Adventures of Tip and Oh.
