Things to Learn From Bad Moms
*This post is part of a partnership with STX Entertainment, but regardless all opinions are 100% my own.
If you don’t like profanity or adult humor this post isn’t for you. From the writers of Hangover they are bringing a movie that is perfect for the midlife crisis’ that all moms feel at some point in their life. Bad Moms is coming to theaters on July 29, when in LA earlier this month I was able to see the movie as well as sit down with some amazing talent and get their perspective about the movie and of course being a Mom. It was a fun filled day complete with pampering, endless mimosas and of course some amazing interviews.
During the Bad Moms Press Junket we had an opportunity to sit down with Christina Applegate and Annie Mumolo and talk about their roles in the movie. One of my personal favorite scenes was when Christina AKA Gwendolyn had to talk about the bake sale “rules”. While it was hilarious to watch and very life like in most cases it was hard for her to do.
Bake Sale Rules
No MSG. No BHA. No soy. No sesame, and a total of 10 different things along with a few made up things. Such as KCN8 but my personal favorite was no red dye because you shouldn’t feed it to your children. It’s a terrible carcinogen and Annie’s kids have never had it, I know I personally can’t say that! So rethink your freezers and check for the no no’s! 😉
Favorite Memory
The cast had a great chemistry and made an amazing movie that shows on the big screen. But they each had different favorite memories
Christina loved talking with all the girls in a circle in our chairs about politics and our children. That was the conversation every day. It went back and forth from being a mother and politics, mother, politics, mother, politics, mother, politics. They kind of go hand in hand because one’s going to form the future for our offspring as well. But things don’t always look so good if you think about it, they might just be f***ked
Annie favorite memory ironically was when she will sick with the flu and Christina sent her a big box of hot toddy mix. But instead of using the tea she just drank the whisky, because if you are going to go down you might as well go down good. But in all honesty she loved that everyone was so supportive and she could be a Bad Mom.
Things to learn from Bad Moms
- Cut yourself some slack.
- It’s ok to fail in front of your kids, it teaches them that is how life goes.
- Get back up and keep moving on, just like you would expect your kids to do.
- Don’t judge yourself or others we are in this together and all of the different types of moms are all mother’s at the end of the day.
- Take time for yourself because then you take better care of your family.
- “Practice makes progress because perfection is not something you can obtain.”-Christina Applegate
About Bad Moms
In this new comedy from the writers of The Hangover, Amy has a seemingly perfect life – a great marriage, over-achieving kids, beautiful home and a career. However she’s over-worked, over-committed and exhausted to the point that she’s about to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over-stressed moms on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities – going on a wild, un-mom-like binge of long overdue freedom, fun and self-indulgence – putting them on a collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted perfect moms.
