Having kids birthday parties are a thing of the past because Elizabeth is now 19, a college student and recently engaged to be married. While Iām pretty sure she should still be a baby, that isnāt how time works at all. But we have been embracing the changes that go with all of that and let me tell you it is tough sometimes. But as parents we simply want what is the best for our son(s)/daughter(s) as do animals. Which is the perfect segway to talk about Bambi!
I grew up watching Disney āClassicsā and one of my favorite films of all time is Bambi. While at first I was a little sad because Bambi lost his momma, but that is the circle of life. Bambi tells a beautiful story about the wonder of nature and the power of friendship and family as well, but his Momma guided him even after her death. Which is what as parents we all hope to have mastered. But parents are really all like The Great Prince, he was the oldest, wisest deer in the forest and parents know a lot, even though they donāt get the credit for that all of the time. It usually comes much later in life and you finally realize your parents knew best all along.
But throughout the entire movie Bambi meets friends like Flower, who got his name when Bambi called him flower and letās not forget Thumper. Who is famous for his charm and teaches Bambi to run in the forest. But friend owl also played a very important role throughout the movie because he was zany as well as affectionate to all of the young animals, but most importantly filled the āfather-figureā role perfectly. And last but not least Faline whom Bambi met in the field when they are young, but as time passed they met and became Twitter-pated as young adults in the Springtime.
So in honor of Bambi turning 75 I decided that we needed to dust off our outdoor movie kit and have a viewing of the beloved classic. But a party isnāt a party without food, drinks and popcorn right? Right!! So for this party I got some images from Disney and got creative on some food and drink ideas. The one thing I’ve learned is to keep it simple so here’s what we are going to do.
Bambi Water–Cold bottles of water with this adorable label on it.
Flower Droppings- A Chocolate Covered Treat
Thumper Tails- Marshmallows
Twitter-Pated Trail Mix–An easy trail mix in individual bags.
Stay tuned for more movie night coverage coming soon! Because we will have lots to share with you while we party and of course after too.
